Group of Cossacks are coming to Moscow to buy an ox. Moscow turns out to be a devilish hole crowded with witches. Some local witch seduces one of the Cossacks, Kolka Smagin and robs him of his eyes, giving him alien blue ones instead. Now Kolka and his uncle Zarubin are ready to start World War III in order to get the eyes back. The quest begins.
Few months before collapse of USSR. Villages and collective farms are facing with problem: young and working age people leaving countryside for better life in cities. Same problem in collapsing collective farm near Moscow - the only mechanic and harvester driver decides to leave his native village because he feels deeply offended for being severely punished for breakdown harvester. But his countrymen disagree with his decision and try to prevent his escape.
After the arrest of her husband (an “enemy of the people” in 1938), she returned with her children to her native village. But after some time she was arrested, the children were taken to different shelters, leaving only the eldest one in the village...
