Filmed on location in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and the Caribbean, Dear Suburbia, is the latest release from Kai Neville and is the follow up to his previous films Modern Collective and Lost Atlas. It is a high-performance, location-based surf film set against exotic landscapes, objects and personalities juxtaposed with the traditions of suburban life. Spontaneity versus routine. The unknown versus the familiar. An interpretation of our lifestyle, culture, riding waves, traveling the world — a pirouette into the absurdity of it all. The result is a graceful, often schizophrenic glimpse at modern life with a surfboard and a passport.
Stranger Than Fiction had so much footage left in the can that it made sense to release Days of the Strange, showcasing the days of filming you did not see. Plus a fresh batch of new bangers from all the usual suspects.
The producers of A Fistful of Barrels and A Bowlful of Chile serve up another slice of 'Somewhere', and this time it's all Bagus! The ASP World Tour descends on Bali in search of Indonesian barrels, babes and Bintangs. In what was possibly the least mysterious event location in the short history of The Search campaign, Rip Curl opted to pay the boys of the Top 44 back for last year's Chilean hell-trip and hold this year's Somewhere event in the well-tracked, and in this case, well-oiled waters off of Bali. Far be it from us to be the spoilers, though. If you can't figure out where these perfectly groomed left-hand barrels are, do the legwork yourself and you'll reap the rewards. Relax and enjoy watching Kelly Slater completely dominate the rest of the Top 44, before bowing out and letting the young Turks have their day. The all-Hawaiian final featured Bruce Irons besting Freddy P to retire comfortably from the Tour in the knowledge that he's got what it takes to take home a win.
Donavon Frankenreiter, Benji Weatherley and Pat O'Connell are joined by Shane Dorian, three time world champion Andy Irons and Australia's own Mark Occhilupo. In 1998 he qualified for the ASP World Tour at the age of 18 years, becoming the youngest surfer to ever win a national title. Burrow had already earned a place on the world tour a year earlier, but he turned it down stating that, as a 17-year-old, he was "too young to do the tour full-on". After his first year on tour in 1998, Burrow claimed the ASP World Tour Rookie of the Year award after finishing 12th place in the rankings. In 2007 Burrow won the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach, Victoria, Australia. He backed this up with a victory at the 2007 Billabong Pro in Jeffrey's Bay, South Africa, where he claimed the title over the then 8-time world champion, Kelly Slater. This win helped to secure his 2nd-place ranking on the ASP Men's Tour, his second runner-up season placing. In 2009, Burrow defeated Slater in the final of the Billabong Pipeline Masters at the Banzai Pipeline. In the same year, he finished fourth place on the World Tour. Burrow won the 2013 Hurley Pro event in September 2013 for the first time, beating fellow Australian Julian Wilson.
